Incomplete Tags for this Game
Blood
Blood is extremely common throughout the game. It is often graphically depicted and is highlighted in some parts of the game.
Body Horror
A majority of the monsters in the game are twisted or horribly mutilated to some extent.
Cannibalism
The Patient monster attacks with its mouth; whether that is because they are cannibals or have no other means to attack is unclear.
Claustrophobia
Most levels in the game consist of poorly lit hallways. The lighting makes the hallways seem enclosed and smaller than they really are.
Darkness
Darkness is extremely common. There are multiple areas that are almost pitch-black and require the Player Character to hold a candle that lights only a small area around them.
Dead Bodies
Dead bodies are common throughout the game. They are particularly common in the Insanity and Final Descent levels.
Death of Family/Friends
The game focuses around the Player Character reliving the death of a female family member.
At the end of some levels, the Player Character murders his sister.
Existential Despair
The existential despair of the Player Character is a common theme reiterated throughout the game.
Eye Horror/Eye Trauma
There are some monsters in the game that have missing or otherwise traumatized eyes.
Ghosts
Early levels in the game feature ghosts heavily.
Gore
Gore is very common throughout the game. It is present in both level areas and enemies.
Graphic Violence
If the Player Character is caught by a monster, they will be graphically killed.
Heights
Some levels include or require jumping down seemingly bottomless pits.
Incest
There is an incestuous subtext in the game. After spending quite a few levels chasing after the Player Character’s sister, one possible path includes waking up next to her and finding out that she is really your wife. Which one is a delusion is left unclear.
Jump Scares
Scripted jump scares are extremely common throughout the game.
Medical Malpractice
At the end of the Insanity level, it is possible for the Player Character to be attacked by his therapist.
Mental Health Institutions
Some levels take place in a mental asylum, either wholly or partially.
Murder
At the end of some levels, the Player Character murders his sister.
Mutilation
At the end of at least two levels, the Player Character graphically mutilates himself on screen.
Needles
One possible ending for the Insanity level involves the Player Character being injected with an unknown substance via a needle.
Psychological Horror
The game was created with the intent of exploring mental illness. It intentionally inspires uncomfortable and fearful feelings in the player.
Psychological Trauma
As time goes on and more endings are unlocked, it becomes very clear that the Player Character has suffered severe trauma.
Self Harm
Several levels end with the Player Character inflicting harm upon himself, often with little apparent chance of surviving it.
Suicide
At the end of several levels, the Player Character harms himself in ways that he is unlikely to survive. In the Destroyed Dreams ending, he appears to have attempted suicide, possibly successfully.
Supernatural Evil
The events of the game and the monsters in it may come from some unnamed evil source.
Unreality
The game is strongly implied to be a hallucination or dream. Levels are often deliberately disorienting and as the game goes on, it becomes increasingly difficult to tell what events are based in reality or entirely imagined.
Violence Against Children
The game opens with a young girl being stabbed. This is revisited several times throughout the game.
Weapons
One enemy carries an axe. Another attacks the Player Character with a scalpel.
