Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a humorous puzzle game that follows an octopus that is masquerading as a human. He must face the challenges of living a normal life with his loving wife and children while keeping his true identity a secret.

Animal Abuse

The Player Character is an octopus and can be harmed during the course of the game.

Aquatic Violence

Several levels take place underwater. The water cannot harm the Player Character and the Player Character cannot drown.

After meeting the Chef on the boat the Player Character must knock him off the boat into the ocean.

During the levels where the Player Character is in the fish tank, they are attacked by a shark and must swim away. Failing to swim fast enough results in game-over. The shark appears multiple times during the underwater levels.

During the shark chase, the Player Character will swim with other aquatic animals. The shark is the only aggressive animal.

Claustrophobia

After being attacked by the shark in the fish tank, the Player Character must swim through narrow tunnels to escape.

Darkness

The Deep Dark Sea level in the Aquarium is completely dark with only small pools of light. This level is required to be completed to complete the game. No enemies will jump out at the Player Character during this level.

Explosions

After finding the Player Character’s family, the main antagonist throws a meat cleaver at some gas tanks and they explode.

Fire

After completing the aquarium level, the menu screen when the player re-opens the game depicts a room on fire.

The final level is completely on fire. The Player Character must navigate the burning room. They can fall into the fire, which results in restarting the level.

The Player Character’s daughter is trapped in a corner of the room on fire. The Player Character saves her as part of the level.

Heights

The title sequence after the tutorial level shows the Player Character falling from a high place into the ocean. This sequence is not skippable.

Kidnapping

The main antagonist is trying to capture and kill the Player Character. He captures and imprisons the Player Character in a shark tank in the aquarium level.

The main antagonist kidnaps the Player Character’s family

Stalking

In the game the Player Character is being followed everywhere by a chef that wants to turn him into sushi.

In the boat level the Player Character must steal another character’s clothing while they are in the shower.

Unreality

It is revealed at the end of the game that the events were just the Player Character watching a movie. The reality of the game events themselves is never completely established.

Violence Against Children

It is possible to accidentally hit the Player Character’s children with objects. They are not permanently harmed. This may happen during gameplay because the Player Character’s movements are purposefully difficult to control and the children will stand near the Player Character at times.

The Player Character’s children are captured by the main antagonist. He threatens to harm them, but they do not come to any harm.

The Player Character’s daughter is trapped in a corner of a room on fire. The Player Character saves her as part of the level.

Weapons

The Player Character is attacked by the main antagonist with meat cleavers.
