GamePhobias L.L.C. is a small company based in Nebraska and founded in 2014 by an Intellectual Property Law-Student and a recent Literature/Philosophy graduate to help make sure that one of their favorite past-times continues to be a safe and comfortable place for all to enjoy, regardless of past experiences, trauma, or fears. Inspired by the recent prevalence of "trigger warnings" on the internet and in social media, they set out originally to establish a site dedicated to informing gamers, their friends, and their loved ones specifically about the "trigger warnings" for games. Shortly after setting out on this mission, they realized that marking "triggers," is not the only worthwhile goal in reviewing games for content. Parents may sometimes find it difficult to enforce the kind of content that is available to young children, and academics may have difficulty finding games that fit their criteria for discussion in the vast sea of games that exists. Thus, GamePhobias changed its system from "triggers" to "Content Advisory Tags." From there, they cobbled together a website, put together some logos, and laid out a system with different Content Advisory Tags with which they could classify games.
